October expiration was probably one of the mildest on record despite the history of it being a volatile cycle. September, October and November is a period considered as one with the highest volatility of the year. November is also a rare cycle because of its five week structure which also contains an earnings season. Add to that the pending midterm elections in which control of the House and perhaps the Senate is rumored to switch and there’s some great fuel for a push to test the moxie of both bulls and bears.
