Market Awareness Profile (MAP)

Have you ever wondered if you are trading the right market? What about the right strategy? Are you more cut out for a discretionary or a mechanical system? The Market Awareness Profile (MAP) can give you the insight needed to answer these and other questions regarding your market participation. The MAP focuses on the Five Factor Model of Personality and is based on the idea that personality can be described and measured on five broad dimensions:

  • Openness
  • Conscientiousness
  • Extroversion
  • Agreeableness
  • Neuroticism

From the results you will be able to better understand how your personality can impact your trading. Here’s an example of one of the facets measured, conscientiousness. The MAP consists of 120 questions and will take about 20 minutes to answer. Your results are presented to you in both a narrative and graphical form. I will answer questions that you may have about the results via email as I really want you to understand the importance of your results. The MAP is steeped in personal psychology and uses one of the most widely accepted assessments to measure personality.

While the MAP is great and can provide valuable insight into your trading, I highly recommend that you also partake in an analysis of your trade history as well. When combining the MAP and trade history analysis together, these metrics truly provide a wealth of information about you and your trading style.
